Help Save York City (13/01/02)

YORK City fans have been betrayed. Bootham Crescent is to be closed and demolished at the end of the season, barring a miracle. Those responsible for its destruction are not faceless outsiders, but the very people entrusted with the moral guardianship of this historic club: its directors. (Yorkshire Evening Press 9 Jan 2002)

FFS editor Lynn grew up at Bootham Crescent. Her dad was there as she was born (Fancy her mother being daft enough to give birth on a day of a match) and her birth announced over the tannoy at half time. She grew up watching 4th division footy on the terraces for a quid. And if they close the place she'll blub. So please please please, help fellow football fans to save a lovely little ground and keep Yorkie the Lion in a job.

Here's how you can help from Minstermen.net...

Minstermen.net are determined to be at the forefront of the fight to save York City FC and as such we are able to announce the setting up of a 'SAVE YCFC' fund, into which we urge all parties to contribute.

We are now near our deadline of 17th January, by which time we have to show that there is enough support and backing for our club to offer it a future.

Already there is a great amount of effort going on behind the scenes, by hard working, dedicated people determined to do everything possible to see us through this crisis.

The formation of a Supporters' Trust may well be the way forward or maybe the club will attract investment from a suitable purchaser. Either way, financial aid is of the essence, for such support may well be the difference between York City FC attracting an investor or losing its fight for survival. But we will not lose, for that is not an option.

As such we call upon the great footballing fraternity to show its support of our club.
