Zhang thinks he's starting versus Man U! (03/11/01)

Despite complete silence from LCFC, all the Chinese sites are reporting the Zhang Yuning loan as going ahead.

He's talking to reporters about it, and if City ever admit to it, and the Chinese giant (6ft 2" apparently!) ever manages to blag a work permit, he's confident enough to think he'll be in the team in a fortnight!

Now either someone's lost something in the translation somewhere or he's a confident bugger!

Here's the translation from Soccernet...

In their effort to get out of the relegation zone, Leicester City, who stay at the bottom of the English Premiership, have determined to bring in some fresh blood, in which Chinese international Zhang Yuning are included.

¡°I am very glad that I have become the first Chinese footballer to play in English Premiership.¡± Said the excited 24-year-old Chinese striker.

¡°It is a great chance. I will work hard to develop my skill and mentality. While waiting for the labor license by English government, I am studying English currently.¡±

The 5-month on-loan deal, worth 150,000 pounds with a 8000-pound weekly salary (before tax), is the second exciting one, following Fan Zhiyi, who moved to Scottish Dundee from English Crystal Palace last month. It is reported that Zhang Yuning¡¯s successful move to premiership will inspire more Chinese young player work hard to achieve their dream for overseas move.

¡°I am looking forward to my debut in Premiership on November 17th.¡± Zhang told reporters.

Are LCFC ever going to comment on the story? Are the Home Office going to let him in? Can we pay for his costs with shirt sales alone in China?

China is currently caught up in a footy frenzy cos of the World Cup and have started a national football lottery every week based on predicting scores in the English and Italian leagues (despite gambling being illegal. Don't ask, I'm sure it makes perfect sense to their Communist Government)

Signing a Chinese player could catch a huge market over there. How many millions would become Foxiles overnight? Can anyone translate "Forfoxsake" into Chinese for us?
