  .City 2 Kettering 0 (02/08/01)

2-0 to City. Got to see a few more of the youth players. Pretty good some of 'em.

£6 to get in the robbing Northants gits. Pissed down with rain at the end.

The floodlights are in the letter K. Bizarre.

Teams:
LEICESTER: Walker, Lyth, Stewart, Sherman (Ashton 72), Heath, Delaney, Jones, Reeves (Zaid 72), Benjamin (Purdie 72), Eadie (McSweeney 45), Thomas. Subs not used: Royce.

KETTERING: Bowling, Diuk, Cowling, Perkins (Young 59), Norman, Lenagh, Matthews, Murray, Collins, Watkins, Wilkinson (Hughes 58).

Benjamin yet again couldn't hit the proverbial barn door on more than several occasions, but did score a nice one so we'll let him off.

Reeves had a good few pops. He's maturing well.

Matt Jones was great in midfield controlling the ball and passing it around. Classy stuff.

Delaney had a bit of an off game and got ratty with himself. Gobby git.

Walker had little to do but when he did was solid.

Eadie made a welcome return but obviously needs to get fit.

Stewart and Thomas had a good few runs down the wing.

Matt Heath (announced initially as Ted Heath by the Kettering PA man!) was amazing again. He is sooooooo like Matt Elliott. He made one mistake tonight, the first in all the pre-season games, but shone at the back and was captain again.

Ashley Lythe had a good game at right back and showed why we spent money on a youngster. Was he £100k?

Darren Sherman didn't get to do much really. John Ashton, Robert Purdie, Leon (?) McSweeney and Eamon (?) Zaid all got a run out for half of the second half. All four look incredibly fast and if fill out and get some strength could be good prospects.

Martin Reeves scored after 7 minutes, and Trevor Benjamin after 15.

Attendence a whopping great 985.

Apparently we have now arranged games with Shepshed and Burton on Tues and Thurs, so if you want to get to see some of these lads play, kick offs are at 7.30 for both I think.

Did you see the young City players at Kettering? Tell us all about it when you get back in the Fans Forum.
