  .City 2 Norwich 2 (29/07/01)

City continued their pre-season friendlies with a 2-2 draw against Norwich City at Carrow Rd.

There were nearly 8,000 there and a really good atmosphere with both sets of fans singing loud and proud. It was novel to hear Marshall be the most booed on the pitch instead of Sav.

Norwich played some lovely passing football and took the game to us. To be fair, we also played a quite a bt of nice footy with lots of passing and less of the long ball forward. As we took the first team off and put the reserves on we stated to become second best though.

Good of ex-City player Iwan Roberts to give Muzzy more practice at the penalty spot as he handballed in the area.

Elliott started as Captain, then Wise, then Rowett. Only Matt Heath didn't get a run out of those who travelled and still no sign of Mr Guppy. No Impey this time either.

After everyone moaning about Walker, and questioning why we signed him...he looked bloody rock solid on all the stuff he did yesterday. Roycey also made a superb save. Should be quite a battle for first team place!

Defence was pretty solid apart from letting Naaaarch win too many free headers in box. Midfield ok. Wisey great, Sav pretty quiet but worked hard and Muzzy seemed a bit out of sorts. They seem to be playing him in a less attacking role which makes no sense to me at all.

Sturridge and Ade did naff all really and I don't think next season is gonna be any different I'm afraid. There's no-one to get it up front to. Very worrying. Let's hope Scowcroft is the answer. I know we try and give Ade confidence by not slating him etc, but let's just say our Naaarch friends were laughing after the game about how crap he still was. I still live in hope that it'll click and he'll show in a game what he can do in training, but I'm really beginning to doubt if he can hack the pressure in front of a crowd.

Oakesy had a bit of a shocker (again) and kept hanging back and not going fwd. Again if this was orders it made no sense. Lost the ball umpteen times. Way too slow. Lewis did ok when he came on. Matt Jones went to right back and did really well. Arnie came on and ran about in circles on the spot as he does, but didn't have a crack at goal unfortunately. Benjamin couldn't hit a barn door but managed to nearly have a scrap.

Damien Delaney is an absolute pleasure to watch. He is going to be so bloody good I get excited every time he gets the ball. And he's got so confident. He was bossing them all around when he came on again and went fwd more than the fwds did. Had a couple of blasts on goal. One of these days he'll let rip on target and will score goal of the month.

Good to see Iwan Roberts. Leicester fans gave him a good reception. All the Naaaaaaarch stewards had adverts for the local paper, the Evening News, on their back which as a photo of Iwan on with a set of nice white teeth. Says "now with teeth" about the paper!
