Oh Bugger...

Another must win game (if we haven't already run out.) And a winnable one at that. City fans were hopeful that we could take the points in the sun against fellow strugglers Man City. They've only won 2 of their last 23 for Gawd's sake.

The Birch tried to get us all going with his impression of Churchill and the never have so many been owed so much by so few speech.

So started a game of frenetic fighting (literally) for survival in the Premiership. It weren't pretty, but at least it wasn't dull. The neutrals loved it. City fans just got raised blood pressure.

Leicester began well and Peter Canero, in his first start, was making some good runs down the right. Barton decided to take him out after only 7 minutes, but Muzzy Izzet's free kick went whizzing past all our players on the edge of the box and came to nothing.

Big Sir Les had a good chance, and Calamity James was forced to make a good save, tipping Les's flying header over the bar.

The Foxes faithful had their hearts in their mouths a few minutes later as a Walker miskick nearly gave Man City the lead. What should have been a simple goal kick went squiffy and low and fell staright to Anelka. Anelka went one on one with Walker and looked odds on to score...but Walker made up for his mistake by getting his fingertips to the ball at Anelka's feet just as Anelka was about to poke home.

Walker wasn't so lucky just before half time. A Man City free kick after Muzzy brought down Wanchope, saw Tarnat send a low drive deflecting slightly. Walker couldn't get to it in time. 1-0 to Man City.

Leicester pushed everything forward after the break, the best form of defence is attack...alledgedly. It meant we were often exposed to a second goal going in against us, but we managed to hold on (thanks to some misses it must be said by Anelka and Wright-Phillips) and kept pushing forward.

We resorted to route one, and it worked. A long Walker hoof up field bounced awkwardly and eventually Scowcroft made a great jump to head the ball in a loop over the top of Calamity James who just stood and watched it bounce into the net in front of the Kop.

It was all Leicester but Bent(on for Sir Les) and Dickov kept putting balls just wide to everyone's frustration. With ten muinutes left Muzzy Izzet came running through into the box. A bouncing ball in the air struck his hand and all the Man City players' arms went up appealing for handball. D'Urso played on and as Muzzy went through, Tarnat raised a lag and took him out. D'Urso, unbelievably pointed to the spot. This was our chance!

And then all hell broke lose. The Man City players, were not, to put it mildly, impressed with Mr D'Urso and Muzzy. It all kicked off and everyone piled in. Handbags galore, 20 man brawl, Freund (who'd been subbed off) legged it back on to have a go after swearing a lot at Keegan who had a go back. Wanchope went down on the floor at one point as if he'd been shot. It took 5 minutes for order to be restored and everyone waited to see what D'Urso would do. Out came his little yellow card and he waved it 4 times, once at Bent and three times at Man city, including Wanchope.

As Dickov went to take the penalty he had the ball hit out of his hands. He gathered it again, set it up...and then fired it just close enough to James that it made James look like he's made a good save. Dickov went down on his knees. The City fans couldn't believe it. It could be our chance to stay up.
