Steve and Billy practise their ballet moves

Back to the City of Manchester Stadium for the second time this season. Seeing a squashed fox on the motorway on the way up didn't bode well, but the journey was easy, parking was easy and the stadium very pleasant again. Definately one of our favourites.

Think it may well be one of Paul Dickov's too...

Only 4 minutes in and good old route one had City fans rather pleasantly surprised.

A long kick from Walker, flicked on by Scowy, a lovely cross from Bent, and Dickov struck it perfectly. 1-0 to the Foxes. 85 minutes to hang on.

For some reason the stewards were being really heavy handed and realy pissed people off. They threw several City fans out for minor things like shouting at the Man City fans and having a beer at their seat. There really was no need as people were in good spirits, and it got lots of backs up as we had to keep standing up to be able to see over them.

Man City dominated much of the first half and our defence at times could only be described as a farce. How we kept it out is anyone's guess. Luck and bizarre bobbles most of the time, combined with frantic goalmouth scrambles and clearances. Roll on Dabizas and Thatcher both being back there.

Just before the half hour mark it went belly up, with Bosvelt falling over Billy McKinlay's foot. Bit of a clumsy tackle and no surprise that Mr Poll pointed to the spot. Anelka stepped up to crack home a perfect penalty in front of the Leicester fans and make it 1-1.

Dickov was having a running battle with the Man City defence, and one long moan to the ref. Man City were definately giving him a hard time, but he was giving as good as he got. He'd picked up a booking and eventually Micky replaced him early in the second half. Quite a few of the Man City fans did actually give him a round of applause as he left the pitch this time.

The game took on a new lease of life and it was end to end stuff and a good cup tie for the last half an hour. Only a few minutes after Dickov had gone off Man City made a great mess and let City in. A long ball should have seen David Dunne deal with it, but he totally misjudged the bounce and Bent, who had been bright all game, whipped in around him and whacked the ball into the net. 2-1.

This is Leicester though and we can't hold a lead...only 3 minutes later we let Anelka in at the other end with yet more duff defending. Bugger, replay nightmare on it's way.

Both teams had chances to win it, but it wasn't to be. As the clock ticked down you had that agonising argument with yourself that you didn't want to lose but you also really could do without a damn replay! But no-one could find the winner and at least the extra revenue will come in handy.

So our name is still in the hat. The draw will be on Skysports live at 1pm on Monday.

Man City will come to Filbert Way on Wednesday 14th January, tickets £20. Ouch.
